DRIVING PHILOSOPHY
Whether it’s a mid-century motel or a storied saloon, Nomada revives once-forgotten properties into modern boutique hospitality experiences on California’s Central Coast.

OUR STORY
Our first venture into the hospitality industry began in 2009 at a cozy bistro set within a beautiful brick building in downtown San Luis Obispo, which was once the historic home of the original Hotel Granada (circa 1922).
In 2010, the property was slated for demolition, but the owner of the beloved bistro, Kimberly Walker, had other plans. She and three longtime friends (who called themselves the Lunacy Club) decided to join together, purchase the building, and restore it to its former glory as a full-service hotel.
The restoration preserved the timeless character of the property and modernized the offering through thoughtful design and attention to detail. A true labor of love, our team hand-picked every piece of furniture, art, fabric, record, and book in the building. And so, in 2012, Granada Hotel & Bistro as you know it today was re-born.
The magic that happened at Granada became the blueprint for Nomada's next six projects — a “best of both worlds” philosophy that honors the past for and carries it into the present for the next generation to discover.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
All of our projects are conceived, crafted, and curated by Nomada Deco, the in-house design team that leads the creative vision for every guest experience.
With each property, we aim to tell a unique story shaped by the landscape, culture, and community that surrounds it.
Our design process is intentional and deeply collaborative, working hand-in-hand with local makers and artisans to create intimate spaces that may be modest in scale but are rich in character.
When it all comes together, the result is a seamless blend of architecture, design, art, music, cuisine, and hospitality—served with care, rooted in place, and shaped by history.
Our hotels — often housed within former motels and brothels — may not appeal to the masses, but resonate deeply with curious travelers in search of something real.

We’re proud of what we’ve built over the span of the last 13 years — a dynamic hospitality design + management company with 7 boutique brands and counting.
