San Luis Obispo wine country spans over 20,000 vineyard acres and is home to more than 90 wineries, with Edna Valley as its cool-climate heart. The region specializes in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, Grenache, and Sauvignon Blanc, producing crisp, balanced whites and elegant reds that reflect its breezy, fog-kissed vineyards. From off-the-beaten-path estates to intimate downtown tasting rooms, this guide highlights a selection of our favorite wineries to explore during harvest season.

EDNA

A new addition to Edna Valley wine country, Edna brings four local, family-owned wineries—Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, Dunites, Greengate Wines, and Vestre—together under one roof for a uniquely varied tasting experience. Located in the former Edna Valley Vineyard property, the new destination also includes a market, restaurant, and craft distillery, making it an easy stop for an afternoon of wine, food, and exploring. Tasting room open Thursday-Monday 11am - 5pm.

BAILEYANA

Housed in a historic schoolhouse, this Edna Valley tasting room offers guests an off-the-beaten-path experience with picturesque views of the Santa Lucia Mountains. Sip a bottle while enjoying a game of bocce ball overlooking the vineyard.

BIDDLE RANCH

Set within a chic farmhouse, this Edna Valley tasting room opens to sun-dappled grounds shaded by olive trees. It’s stylish, serene, and simply beautiful. Open Thursdays - Sundays.

DEOVLET

Deovlet blends artistry and viticulture, crafting small-lot, natural wines that highlight the character of Edna Valley. Tastings are intimate, focusing on connection, flavor, and story.

DUNITES

The downtown SLO tasting room for natural wine lovers, with a diverse portfolio featuring Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Syrah, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pet Nat, Albariño, and more. 

LADY OF THE SUNSHINE

Founded by our friend Gina Giugni, Lady of the Sunshine is a boutique winery focused on natural, terroir-driven wines that reflect the purity of the place they come from. Private tastings are available Thursdays & Fridays at their cellar in San Luis Obispo.

SCAR OF THE SEA

Founded by our friend Mikey Giugni (maker of our own Skyview Rosé), Scar of the Sea is a boutique winery producing expressive, coastal-influenced wines with minimal intervention. The intimate tasting room is shared with Lady of the Sunshine and offers a cozy and thoughtful wine experience by appointment only. 

OUTWARD

Outward is a small-production winery crafting approachable, well-balanced wines that highlight Edna Valley’s diversity. Tastings are intimate and relaxed, with both indoor and outdoor spaces perfect for enjoying the Central Coast scenery.

TALLEY

Tucked in the hills of the Arroyo Grande Valley, Talley’s tasting room pairs world-class wines with sprawling views of the very vines they come from.
